چکیده

In adhesive bonding, two different substrate materials are joined together, usually by forming chemical bonds. The can stick things together. loading rate and deformation mode easily change the mechanical properties of material. Hence, a vital aim current study is to evaluate strain effect on damage response joints for Mode I scenarios. adherend material was aluminum AL6061-T6, Araldite 2015 adherent This experiment delamination had prescribed size 200 mm × 25 3 an thickness 0.5 mm. situations where affects failure mechanism, displacement 5, 50, or 500 mm/min sufficient attain mechanism. A double cantilever beam (DCB) specimen employed construct FE model geometry simulation. hybrid experimental–FE technique utilized extract interface. simulation has proven have excellent correlation with experimental findings.

Experimental investigation of mode I fracture energy of adhesively bonded joints under impact loading conditions

Background Recently, the automotive industry has paid attention to multi-material structures to reduce CO2 emission. Hence, the use of light-weight and high-strength materials such as Al–Mg alloys, high-tensile-strength steel and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP) is essential to lighten the vehicle weight [1]. Joining methods for these dissimilar materials are the key to apply them into t...

Computational Models of Adhesively Bonded Joints

Simulations using the Finite Element Method (FEM) play an increasingly important role in the design process of joints and fasteners in the aerospace industry. In order to utilize the potential of such adhesive bonding, there is an increasing need for effective and accurate computational methods. The geometry and the nature of an adhesive joint are, however, not so simple to describe effectively...

The Fracture Behaviour of Adhesively-Bonded Composite Joints: Effects of Rate of Test and Mode of Loading

The present paper discusses the results of an investigation into the effects of test rate and the mode of loading on the fracture energy, Gc, of adhesively-bonded fibre-composite joints. Various carbon-fibre reinforced-polymer (CFRP) matrix composite substrates have been bonded using two different types of automotive structural epoxy-adhesives. They have been tested via loading the bonded joint...

Modelling the Fracture Behaviour of Adhesively-bonded Joints as a Function of Test Rate

Tapered-double cantilever-beam joints were manufactured from aluminium-alloy substrates bonded together using a single-part, rubber-toughened, epoxy adhesive. The mode I fracture behaviour of the joints was investigated as a function of loading rate by conducting a series of tests at crosshead speeds ranging from 3.33 x10 m/s to 13.5 m/s. Unstable, (i.e. stick-slip crack) growth behaviour was o...
